Tin Plate, Duchess of Manchester
The pattern for this plate, which was made at the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, was given as a diplomatic gift by King Louis XVI to the Duchess of Manchester, the wife of the British Ambassador to to Court of Versailles. The occasion was the Pairs of Peace, in which three treaties were signed that ended the American Revolutionary War.
