Rhode Island Seal Necklace
Hand cast from a large, oval wax seal featuring a sheep with the words, "Seal of Newport Rhoade Island Covnsel," attributed to Arnold Collins, 1696. Cast here in Newport, Rhode Island in both silver and bronze, select your metal and chain length in drop down menus.
Wax seals securely bonded letters closed, serving as a stamp of authenticity and privacy by verifying to its recipient not only who the sender was, but also that the letter had not been tampered with or opened. This seal was used by William Coddington, Council Clerk of Newport, on an order of the Town Council dating September 18, 1729.
