East Indian Tea

East Indian Black Tea is a brisk and malty black tea, and is what was thrown overboard into the Cooper River, an event now known as the Charleston Tea Party.

In colonial America, the new availability of stimulating beverages like tea provided a welcome alternative to alcohol and helped coffeehouses become gathering places for community discussion and debate. Tea was also popularly drunk at home.

This black tea comes loose in a 3 oz tin.
