'Copley' Blue Rhinestone Earrings
Large and bold reproduction earrings made with vintage cobalt blue Czech crystals set in gold-plated brass. Earring lever backs are soldered on for extra security when wearing them.
These earrings are inspired by the 1767 portrait of Mrs. George Turner by John Singleton Copley. While Mrs. Turner was not a Newport resident, Copley painted several of Newport's own, including Anne Fairchild Bowler in 1763. Mrs. Bowler's jewelry in the painting bears similar resemblance to the blue jewelry of Mrs. Turner.
