Crookes Radiometer

Taking its name from the chemist, Sir William Crookes, who invented the device in 1873, the Crookes Radiometer consists of a vacuum in an airtight, clear glass bulb enclosing four delicate metal vanes, mounted on a fine spindle. These radiometer vanes are highly responsive to light, spinning at several thousand rotations per minute when exposed to bright sunlight!
