Compass Rose Cutting Board
8”x8" tempered glass cutting board that doubles as a serving tray or cheese board, which features an image of a compass rose from a hand-drawn map from 1748.
The map of the Goulds’ farm in Middletown, Rhode Island includes a listing of abutters and depictions of individual trees, a grave, a corn crib, and a spring that "never dries" and features images of a house, compass rose, and survey instrument. This property descended through the family of Daniel Gould (1625-1716), a persecuted Quaker from the Massachusetts Bay Colony and early settler of Newport.
