Newport’s William Ellery is well-known as one of the company of men who placed their names onto one of the nation’s most hallowed and historic documents: The Declaration of Independence.  The Newport Historical Society holds an extensive collection of Ellery’s correspondences, along some personal items from his family’s estate, including an embroidered wing-back chair his daughter embroidered. This book features selected Letters of William Ellery from the Newport Historical Society Collection with historic annotations.
