Colonial Bohea Tea

This lightly smokey black tea was the most imported tea in Colonial America, in fact, the word 'bohea' became a common word for tea. During the infamous Boston Tea Party, the majority of tea destroyed in the Harbor was bohea.

In colonial America, the new availability of stimulating beverages like tea provided a welcome alternative to alcohol, and helped coffeehouses become gathering places for community discussion and debate. Tea was also popularly drank at home.

This black tea comes loose in a 3 oz tin or a packet with 6 teabags.
